Stanley Jenkins grew up in Illinois and Michigan, and attended Oberlin College, graduating with a B.A. in Religion in 1985. Having felt the call to ministry from his teen years and through college, he immediately went on to seminary and earned his Master of Divinity at Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Stanley was ordained promptly after graduation from Union in 1988 and accepted the solo pastorship of First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, NY, which he served for three years before beginning doctoral studies in the Divinity School of the University of Chicago. During that time, Stanley came to realize that parish ministry was his true calling, and that is what he has pursued faithfully since 1995. He is married to Mary Shutak Jenkins. Mary’s son (Stanley’s stepson), Elias (Eli) Moose, is currently a junior at Bard College, in the Hudson Valley.
Gail Lee was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and, with her sister, came to the United States while in high school. She attended Rutgers University, where she majored in music, with an emphasis on conducting, and continued her studies with a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Northwestern University. She has been an assistant professor and conductor for the school's orchestra at Alfred University. Gail has received many honors and awards, and has worked with the Seattle Symphony, the Women's Philharmonic (San Francisco), the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, the Kaohsuing City Symphony (Taiwan), the North Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, Miskolc (Hungary), the Filharmonie Hradec Kralove, the Janacek Filharmonie Ostrava, the Silesian Opera Theatre (Czech Republic), and the Varna State Philharmonie (Bulgaria). Gail came to Dutch Neck Church as Director of Music in 2001.
Scott Newhouse joined us as our Youth Minister in September 2011. Scott is just beginning his Master of Divinity studies at Princeton Seminary, but comes to us with a wealth of experience in Youth Ministry and a remarkable passion for this calling. Since graduating with a Political Science degree from the University of Southern California in 2008, he has been a Youth Director at the Brentwood Presbyterian Church in California, worked for Habitat for Humanity in Charlotte, NC, and been a Case Manager working with troubled youth in Nashville, TN. While Scott is obviously drawn to “Jesus' challenge to treat the poor as we would treat Christ himself (Matthew 25:31- 46)”, he finds his strongest calling to Youth Ministry.
Floyd Churn retired May 31, 2008 after over 26 years as Pastor. He is a graduate of the University of Richmond, VA, and the Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div., 1968; D.Min., 1995). Previous ministry was as Pastor of the Overbrook Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia, PA, and Chaplain and Teacher, The Hackley School, Tarrytown, NY. Dr. Churn is married to Janet; they are parents of two grown daughters. He can be reached at FJChurn@aol.com.
