You and your pets are invited to join us in the parking lot behind the Education building for a Blessing of the Animals service, which will begin at 4 p.m. The service will be held outside. We will be blessing pets individually. Before you come, please be sure that your pets are safely in cages or held with proper leashes. Should your pet be a little shy or over-protective of you around strangers, you can bring a photo instead. If you have a beloved pet that has passed on, the pastors will be offering a prayer of thankfulness for the wonderful memories of the love you shared with this pet. She works at the National Basketball Association as a Social Responsibility Program Manager. In this role, Rev. Scott manages social justice & inclusion and civic engagement eJorts for the NBA. Her work helps to inspire players, fans and employees to appreciate the importance of social justice and positively act to impact systemic change. Her work across the league’s civic engagement initiatives help drive increased participation in American democracy during the presidential and midterm elections and beyond. Rev. Scott joined the NBA’s Associate Program in 2013, eventually joining the NBA’s Global Partnerships team where she managed marketing and retail partnership accounts until 2018. She also co-founded the NBA’s first Black Employee Network, Dream in Color. In the fall of 2018, Scott enrolled at Duke University, where she earned a Master of Divinity with certificates in “Faith-based Organizing, Advocacy, and Social Transformation” and “Black Church Studies.” She graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2021. After graduating from Duke, Scott returned to the NBA in June 2021 on the Social Responsibility team. Additionally, Rev. Scott was ordained in the NJ Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She currently serves on the Duke Divinity School’s National Alumni Council. Dr. Barnes served as the seventh president of Princeton Theological Seminary. He began his tenure in January 2013, and served until January 2023, when he retired and received the title President Emeritus. He also served as professor of pastoral ministry. Barnes earned his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Seminary in 1981 and his PhD in church history from the University of Chicago in 1992. Before becoming president of Princeton Seminary, Barnes was a chaired professor at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary while also serving as the pastor and head of sta of Shadyside Presbyterian Church. He previously served pastorates in Madison, Wisconsin, and at the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. He is a frequent lecturer and preacher at conferences, academic gatherings, and in congregations across the country. He is the author of nine books. His writing and academic work reect his deep commitment to the theological formation of pastors to lead the church in changing times. Joel is a visual artist from West Michigan, best known for his illustration of books and his creation of murals. He presents art with a child-like sensibility that is colorful, whimsy and honest. Joel’s most recent project is a collection of forty paintings illustrating scenes from the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. This group is filled with dedicated volunteers who are enthusiastic about singing together. The Chancel Choir normally practices on Thursday night from 7 to 8:30 pm. The repertoire is vast: from motets to gospel, a cappella (without accompaniment) and with instruments. We participated in the New Brunswick Presbytery Choir Festival a few times in the past. The experience was inspiring and fulfilling. The choir normally gets together to warm up and go through a few things on Sunday morning right before the service. This is a time we also welcome anyone who can not commit to Thursday rehearsals to join us.
